I am originally from Belfast in Northern Ireland where I trained as a Physiotherapist. The calling of New Zealand (aka Middle Earth) brought me here in 2008 to Havelock North. Almost two years later I moved to Ashburton, where I met my husband and have been living here for eight years. We have a one and a half year old son, two dogs and two cats to keep us on our toes!

I have been working in private practice for 11 years and love the variety and challenges that each day brings. From sports injuries, to post-operative rehabilitation, back pain to knee pain no two injuries are the same. Working alongside my wonderful patients to develop their goals of treatment and getting them back to what they love doing makes going to work a pleasure. I have worked two seasons as the physio for the Hawkes Bay Tui’s Women’s rugby team, the Havelock North Premier rugby team and a season with the Southbridge Senior rugby team. The thrill is pitch side treatment is something I think every physio loves!

I trained as a Clinical Pilates instructor in 2012, and have been teaching classes since then. I own Inverted Fitness Pole and Pilates Studio where I teach pole fitness and Pilates classes. Pole Fitness not only keeps me fit, strong and flexible but the self love and confidence I have developed from this beautiful sport is better than anything else I have tried. I love watching my students transforming into confident and empowered women who can take on the world.

Through my pole fitness, Pilates and physiotherapy, I have met many many women who always ask about their core. “The Core” has been a hot topic for years with everyone suddenly needing to strengthen theirs, to help get their pre-baby body back and to flatten their tummy. This took my physio studies in a new direction that has opened up a new world for me…Women’s Health. I have been working n Women’s Health now for three years, and the more I learn and treat, the more my passion for this special area grows. Our bodies are amazing creations and they go through a lot, especially if children are involved. But so often women get consumed in their family and work and hobbies they forget to take care of themselves. I believe every woman should understand their body, and the changes it goes through at different stages of life. I have created my practice to allow women to seek treatment for things they thought were ‘just part of life’.

Please take a look around the website, and if you have any questions or would like to make an appointment, get in touch.

I love this quote from Matt Bevin;“While it may seem small, the ripple effect of small things is extra ordinary”. By setting small goals, and making small changes, the effect on your life can be so positive. “Knowledge is power but actions get things done” if you know what’s happening with your body, you can understand the actions you need to do to change it,
