Kid’s Pelvic Floor Resources

I hope you find the resources on this page helpful in your journey towards getting your child’s pelvic health under control. I have used most if not all of these with my son and they have been a great help. If you have seen my for an appointment I have probably been through a lot of this stuff with you, if you are yet to make an appointment I will go through the information in more detail then.

Please feel free to email me and keep me updated with your progress. I love hearing from families about how they are doing - might take me a day or two to get back to you but I will!

Poo in You - You Tube Video

This is a link to a You Tube video explaining why poo leaks happen when a child is constipated. Share this link with everyone who will be involved in your child’s treatment. The info is great up to about 3 mins 35 seconds - the treatment advice in this video could be better, but the explanation at the start is excellent.

Bed Wetting and Accidents Website - Dr. Steve Hodges

I use a lot of the free resources on this website in clinic. It’s got some awesome downloads, books and information for parents/teachers/caregivers. This is also the laxative protocol I suggest GP’s use to help “clear out” the constipation and send them a link to this information too.

Pooland App

This is a great app some children - including my 5 year old LOVE to watch on the toilet! It features Poo, who just wants to go home to Pooland down the toilet but he gets shy, and Ollie has to help him. Download it from the App store or Google Play store by searching “Poo goes to Pooland” - slightly different name in both stores but you will find it.

Poop chart

Print out a couple of these Poo charts to keep track of how, when and what you child’s poo looks like. You can also record the foods they eat, any accidents and any notes such as behaviours. I often ask parents to complete a week of this diary to give me heaps of extra information and help me tailor more individual treatment.

Lesley’s Awesome chart

This chart is what I always give as homework and a way to check your are all doing it! I will add it and personalise the chart with how much water to drink, tracking leaks etc and give you a copy to take home. The one here is a generic one, but if you would like to print it off and keep track of some of the things on it prior to your appointment, it can be really beneficial to show patterns and trends in symptoms.

The Bristol Stool Chart - if you are not familiar with this…you will be very soon!!!!
