These ante-natal classes are different to the ones offered by Childbirth educators – I will not be covering topics to do with baby, feeding, car seat and sleep safety or what happens to your body during labour/C-Section/birth options.
These classes are all about MUM! They are suitable for all pregnant women and designed to complement the ones you will already be signed up for as a first time mum. They are also suitable for mum’s expecting their second, third (and beyond!) babies. Personally, I had more anxiety second time around, as do many of my patients regarding their birth (especially if first time round was a little more difficult) I have researched and studied to bring you the most up to date, evidence based research and knowledge I could fine. They are about empowerment too, getting to know your body and how incredible it is!
Suitable from any time during pregnancy - the information is invaluable throughout pregnancy labour and post partum. Partners are more than welcome, just let me know before the evening if you are bringing someone - or they will have to sit on the floor!

Online: if there is enough interest, we could host some people online, but for learning the stretches and labour positions and safety during exercise it would be strongly encouraged to come to the live class.

o Intro duction to Pregnancy Vinyasa yoga, why it is so beneficial during and after pregnancy and a 30 min gentle class.
Week 2 – Exercise in Pregnancy and Post Natal
Host: Emily – Personal Trainer specialising in Pregnancy and Post-Natal Fitness

o Return to exercise post partum
o Return to impact/running post partum
o 1 hour Pregnancy Fitness class – learning to use your pelvic floor and core during exercise
Week 3 – Labour Prep and recovery

o Pelvic floor relaxation and breathing in different labouring positions

o Partner stretches and massage during pregnancy and labour

o Q&A to answer any questions at all!
o Depending on time, may do some more yoga!
Week 4 – Mum’s Mental Health

This is a huge topic very dear to our hearts. We are not counsellors or psychologists, just 3 mums with their own stories of our mental health during pregnancy and post natally. Information on our support group here in Ashburton.
